Heritage Story
Pashmina — the 'soft gold' of Kashmir — has been treasured by royalty and nobility for centuries. Our shawls are made from fiber collected from the underbelly of Changthangi goats who roam at 14,000 feet altitude in Ladakh. The fine fibers are hand-combed, hand-spun on a traditional charkha wheel, and then woven by master weavers in Srinagar. The Sozni embroidery is added by separate craftswomen who may take 3-6 months on a single shawl.

How It's Made
1. Fiber collection: Spring is when Changthangi goats naturally shed their winter coat. The soft inner fiber (pashm) is gently combed by hand. 2. Spinning: Village women spin the delicate fiber on a traditional wooden wheel. 3. Weaving: A skilled weaver on a handloom weaves the shawl over 2-4 weeks. 4. Washing: The woven shawl is washed in cold river water and dried in fresh air. 5. Embroidery: A Sozni needlework artist adds the floral design using fine needles.
